A new site and a new music store!

Today, I am glad to announce the launch of my new web site! In the past I used to maintain two; a blog and a development web site. I have now decided to stick with one, running PHP-Fusion. A new theme is in the making, and once ready, it will still be continuously improved.

So, what will you find here? Mostly blog posts for now. In the future I plan to add information about mods/infusions/themes I (may) make for PHP-Fusion. But since I am in charge of the development for PHP-Fusion, my main focus is on core development, so don't count on anything (soon).

Besides thinking about my new web site, I have been thinking about iTunes and it's Music Store lately. Lovely as iTunes is is on Mac OS X, it is slower on Windows and not available for Ubuntu. The past weeks I used a Windows Virtual Machine to buy music, but it became more and more of a hassle if I wanted to buy just one song, minutes before I had to leave the house. With Rhythmbox as my Ubuntu music player, I already had that iTunes alternative (it's even a lot faster!), but I still hadn't found an alternative to the iTunes Music Store.

I naturally would have gone with Amazon (I buy more there and I use AWS), but since they have a very limited number of countries they sell music in, it wasn't an option (me living in the Netherlands). My search eventually led me to 7digital, an online music store available in several countries with a reasonable amount of music. So, I thought, let's try. It turns out it works amazingly well! You sign up for an account, add music to a basket, checkout and pay, and download your songs. All songs I have seen were available in 320k MP3 and some even 320k AAC; the sounds is absolutely amazing! It's way better than my iTunes Music Store downloads. Add to that that no song has DRM (as far as I know) and it's cross-platform compatible!

So, a new web site and a new music store, all in one day. Any comments, please feel free to respond and remember to try out 7digital!
